Brief History of the Department:

This institution has begun its illustrious history in the year 1982. The institution is making all sorts of efforts to achieve its noble mission of providing value based education to the socially and economically deprived rural students at affordable cost by admitting them at lowest possible cost/fee.Since from the inception many faculty members have served in this department with great knowledge and teaching skills.

The following faculty members are serving in the department. Prof. Mangala K.C (Head of the Department), Dr. Shakunthala C.V, Dr. Nalina N, Dr. Hemavathi T.R. The department activities have been conducted regularly during every academic year by inviting subject experts to give special lectures on the topics related to kannada literature and prescribed syllabus of the university. The department has immense opportunity to interact and involve the students from all programme as Kannada subject is the compulsory subject. The department members are actively involved in different committees to enrich the standards of institution as a whole like Cultural, NSS, Magazine, Sports, Admission, and Disciplinary.

The department organizes educational tours to nearby literary destination like university campus of Mysore,Bangalore, or literary museums,. The department ensures that the students and teachers co-ordinate in entire curriculum by conducting workshops, screening of PPTS and screening of movies. The department comprises of committed, dedicated and academically excellent faculty which thrives towards the excellence in academic and overall development of students as a whole. The department of kannada initiates the celebration of Kannada rajyotsava,birth centenaries of well known kannada poets and literary scholars. The faculty of the department are the member of District kannada sahithya parishath, Akhila bharartha sharana sahithya parishath.

Attended state level and national level seminars/ conferences/ workshop and delivered many special lectures in other institutions. And he as served as BOE member and chairman of Kuvempu university and Davanagere university And he has served as a NSS Office

Revanna M.A, NET, Ph.D He is having 15 years experience, presented papers in state level and national level conference He has Published 13 research articles , periodicals with ISSN /ISBN and delivered many special lectures in other institutions

Dr.C.Ramesh M.A, NET, Ph.D Assistant Professor Department of Kannada Dr. C . Ramesh M.A, NET, Ph.D He is having 5 years experience, presented papers in state level and national level conference He has Published 10 research articles , periodicals with ISSN /ISBN
